ESEE Program Policies
ESEE Professionalism
Professional Dispositions describe important professional behaviors of practicing teachers. Candidates who do not meet expectations for one or more of the dispositions may face dismissal from the program. Teacher candidates demonstrate:
1. Professional and ethical conduct (Models honesty; fairness; and respect for individuals, cultures, and the laws of society. Demonstrates emotional/behavioral control and embraces diverse perspectives.)
2. Effective work habits (Demonstrates good work habits including reliability, punctuality, and follow-through on commitments.)
3. Effective communication (Communicates in an open and respectful manner with students, peers, professionals, families, and supervisors.)
4. Self-reflection (Reflects on practices and monitors own teaching and professional interactions, making appropriate adjustments. Provides and accepts evaluative feedback in a professional manner.)
5. Collaboration (Works collaboratively with peers and professionals.)
Professionalism will be evaluated in all courses and in your field settings. Any candidate with “Unacceptable” scores will receive intervention and either a Letter of Intent or a Plan of Assistance (see candidate support for more information).
